BREAST
RECONSTRUCTION
What is
Breast Reconstruction?
Breast
reconstruction surgery is for female
patients who have insufficient breast tissue and volume or
complete absence of the breast due to surgery (i.e. after breast cancer
or breast siliconoma removal), trauma or congenital anomaly. Breast Reconstruction
surgery
restores the appearance of a breast by rebuilding the breast contour,
nipple, and areola. The medical advancements of this procedure can
restore the natural appearance of the breast.
Risks on
Breast Reconstruction Surgery
Similar to other kinds
of plastic surgery,
complications are also involved in Breast
Reconstruction.
Some of them are fluid collection, excessive
scar tissue, bleeding, inadequate symmetry, and problems with
anesthesia. Infection may also develop but this too is very
rare. Capsular contracture may happen if the scar or capsule
begins to tighten. However, this can be treated easily.
